Carolyn Rigiero CCHT
Carolyn S. Rigiero, CCHT, EFT-ADV, has been working in the field of Relapse Prevention for three years before joining The Addiction Project in 2014. She has been an instructor at HCH/Transformational Therapy center in Lafayette CA, since 2007. She teaches several modules within the hypnotherapy course, as well as the Emotional Freedom courses, from beginning to advanced. At the end of 2013, she received the Best of Lafayette award for Alternative Medicine.
As a former Medical Research Technician, I had always been deeply rooted in Science. Just as the tests that I ran on a daily basis were proof of the hypotheses of my experiments, I needed proof in my life as well, that everything ran according to a scientific plan and irrefutable evidence. But after a while, life became mundane and I felt a change away from hard-core science was necessary for me to evolve. During my search to change my life’s goals, I discovered the mind-body connection, as embodied in hypnosis, guided imagery, and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP: the way we communicate with the world through the language of the senses).
Although this mind-body connection was a new way for me to think about the world, and completely different from scientific suppositions, I was intrigued.
Further study allowed me to see that there existed a spirituality that could not be tested or quantified like scientific hypotheses…and I took to this new idea with renewed excitement for life.
In 2006, after six months of classroom study and six months internship, I was awarded a certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy from HCH Institute in Lafayette, California. Since then, I have also become a devotee and certified practitioner of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and use it in my daily life. I also incorporate this amazing process into each session with my clients.
I am currently on the teaching staff at HCH/Transformational Therapy Center. I teach several modules within the Hypnotherapy course, as well as the Emotional Freedom Technique classes, both beginning and advanced. I also hold my office hours at HCH.
Because Hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT have to do with forming new neural pathways in the brain to change behavior, I became interested in how the brain of addicts respond to this type of intervention. I soon found that because of the brain’s plasticity, as well as its ability to continue to evolve with positive input, these mind-body techniques appeared to have a greater success rate for relapse prevention than other programs on the market.
And so I joined the highly successful Addiction Project, as put forth by hypnotherapist, Wendi Freisen, and earned my Relapse Prevention Expert certification.
At the end of 2013, I was awarded the Best of Lafayette award in Alternative Medicine.
